Start-up
Risk of impairment of aseptic or hygienic
service.
In the version with backup packing, the test
connection is sealed by a stopper.
Î
To guarantee aseptic or hygienic service,
connect a leakage detection device to the
test connection.
Diaphragm damage through the use of an
incompressible medium.
Closing the valve when the shut-off valves
upstream and downstream of the valve are
closed may lead to the diaphragm rupturing
in plants with liquid media flowing through
them.
Î
Only close the valve when the shut-off
valves upstream and downstream of the
valve are open.
Before start-up or putting the valve back into
service, make sure the following conditions
are met:
−
The valve is properly installed into the
pipeline (see section 5).
−
The leak and function tests have been
completed successfully (see section 5.4).
−
The prevailing conditions in the plant
section concerned meet the valve sizing
requirements (see information under In-
Start-up/putting the regulator back into op-
eration
1. Allow the valve to cool down or warm up
to reach ambient temperature before
start-up when the ambient temperature
and process medium temperature differ
greatly or the medium properties require
such a measure.
2. Slowly open the shut-off valves in the
pipeline. Slowly opening these valves
prevents a sudden surge in pressure and
resulting high velocities that can damage
the valve.
3. Check the valve to ensure it functions
properly.
