7.

 

MAINTENANCE AND STORING 

 

If gritter is idle for more than two weeks, the following maintenance works should always be 

performed: 

 

clean and wash gritter thoroughly, 

 

if need be perform any repair, adjustment, replacement of sealing or hose,  

 

remove any sources of corrosion and complement any paintwork defect, 

 

protect metal surfaces with thin layer of solid grease, e.g. ŁT – 43, mineral engine or gearbox oil, 
e.g. 15W40, 

 

complement or replace illegible warning and information decals, 

 

protect connection nozzles of hydraulic hoses. 

 

Self-loading  gritter  should  be  stored  in  standing  or  lying  position  –  with  lowering  cylinder 

retracted  in  dry  and  clean  place,  which  is  inaccessible  to  unauthorized  personnel  and  animals,  on 
even  and  paved  ground  under  roof  or  other  cover  protecting  it  from  influence  of  atmospheric 
conditions.

TRANSPORT AND DELIVERY 

 

For  transport  protect  gritter  properly  to  prevent  its  shifting.  When  placing 
gritter  onto  transport  vehicle,  it  should  be  lifted  up  with  use  of  transport 
holders,  that  are  marked  with  special  labels.  Lifting  should  be  performed 
with use of lifting device with load not less than gritter’s overall weight. 

 

Both the carrier and the driver shall be responsible for the gritter transport safety. Any 

equipment and parts must be secured properly for transport. In order to safely relocate the machine 
onto another vehicle, please follow these rules: 

 

to lift the gritter, use only lifting devices with hoisting capacity bigger than the gritter weight 

 

provided on data plate. It also applies to ropes and chains used for lifting, 

 

transport  belts,  belt  suspensions,  ropes  cannot  be  damaged.  Whenever  damages  to  these  parts 
are spotted replace these with new ones, 

 

seize the gritter by any lifting device only in places indicated on the machine with the hook sign 
(

Fig. 3

), 

 

when mounting slings, chains, handles etc. always pay attention to setting the machine's center 
of gravity properly (

Fig. 12

), 

 

to catch machines, pick ropes of adequate length, so that the angle between them is no greater 
than 120°, and the angle between the strand and the vertical is no greater than 60°, 

 

collapsible parts should be blocked in transport position, 

 

during putting the gritter onto another vehicle it is forbidden for anybody to remain in transport 
area, 

 

on the vehicle’s trailer the machine should be secured against moving.
