Personal Fall Arrest:

Safewaze Class 1 SRLs can be used as part of a complete Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS) for a maximum of one user.  Only one user

may be connected to an SRL.  Avoid sharp and/or abrasive edges. If contact with an abrasive surface is unavoidable, proper edge protection must be used.  The

structure utilized for attachment must be capable of withstanding a load of 5,000 lbs. in all directions permitted by the system. The maximum allowable free fall

is 2 ft.

10.0  ACTUAL ARREST DISTANCE / MINIMUM REQUIRED FALL CLEARANCE

Minimum Required Fall Clearance:

Safewaze SRLs are tested in accordance with ANSI Z359.14-2021 conditioning test protocols.  Table 6 reflects the actual performance of each unit in the

Northstar Classic SRL series when subjected to Ambient, Wet, Hot, and Cold testing.  The Fall Clearance specifications in Table 8 of this manual reflect the

ANSI Z359.14-2021 Maximum Arrest Distance allowance of 42”.  Actual Arrest Distances for each unit in the Northstar Classic SRL series are indicated below.

These Actual Arrest Distances are typically lower than the 42” maximum as specified per ANSI. In certain instances this may allow for a Qualified Person to adjust

Minimum Required Fall Clearances indicated in Table 8.

The Minimum Required Fall Clearance distances indicated in Table 7 are based upon Ambient, Wet, Hot, and Cold testing results for each unit in the Northstar

Classic SRL series.  Fall Clearances indicated in Table 7 are calculated using the greatest Actual Arrest Distance out of the four tests performed on each model.

Table 6 indicates the specific arrest distance for each unit in prescribed condition testing with 0’ offset.

EXAMPLE:

The FS-FSP1215-G has Actual Arrest Distances of 16”, 17”, 17”, and 34” during Ambient, Wet, Hot, and Cold testing respectively.

By using the greatest distance (Cold=34”) out of the four tests performed and inserting that value in Row B of the Chart in Figure 2, a Total Fall Clearance

of 6’ 10” is required.
