coffee or any other object may damage the ma-
chine.

•  Replace the cover on the coffee bean hopper (1).
•

(Fig.5A)

 - Insert the plug into the socket on the back

of the machine.

•

(Fig.5B)

 - Insert the plug of the other end of the power

cord into a wall socket with suitable power voltage.

•  Press the power button (17) to turn on the machine.

A red icon appears on the display.

This indicates that the circuit must be primed.
•

(Fig.7)

 - To prime the water circuit, place a container

below the hot water/steam wand (Pannarello) (7).

•

(Fig.8)

 - Turn hot water/steam knob (10) clockwise

and wait. A pre-set amount of water will be dispensed
from the Pannarello. An orange icon will immediately
be displayed:

Turn the hot water/steam knob (10) to close the

Pannarello.

•  Now an orange icon will be displayed:

This indicates that the machine is heating up to tem-

perature.

Note: Before starting the machine after long
periods of inactivity or if the water tank has

been completely emptied, it is advisable to prime
the circuit.

When warm-up is complete, the machine
performs a rinse cycle of the internal circuits.

A small amount of water is dispensed. During this
phase an orange icon will be displayed:

Wait for this cycle to be completed automatically.

•  When the rinse cycle is complete, a green icon will be

displayed:

The machine is now ready for use.
•  To brew coffee, dispense hot water or steam, and

for a proper use of the machine, carefully follow the
instructions provided.

5 ADJUSTMENTS

The machine allows for certain adjustments that will per-
mit you to use it to its full potential.

5.1 Saeco

Adapting

System

Coffee is a natural product and its characteristics may
change according to its origin, blend and roast. The
Saeco coffee machine is equipped with a self-adjusting
system that allows the use of all types of coffee beans
available on the market (not including

fl

 avored or car-

melized).
•  The machine automatically adjusts itself in order to

optimize the extraction of the coffee, ensuring perfect
compression of the beans to obtain a creamy espresso
coffee that will release all the aromas, regardless of
the type of coffee used.

•  The optimization process is a learning process that

requires the brewing of a certain number of coffees
to allow the machine to adjust the compactness of the
ground coffee.

•  Attention should be given to special blends, which

require grinder adjustments in order to optimize the
extraction of the coffee (see section 5.2).

5.2 Coffee

Grinder

Adjustment

Warning! The grinder adjustment knob, inside
the coffee bean hopper, must be turned only

when the grinder is running. Do not pour ground and/
or instant coffee into the coffee bean hopper.

Do not insert any material other than coffee
beans into the hopper. The grinder contains

moving parts that may be dangerous. Therefore, do
not insert

fi

ngers and/or other objects. Switch the

power button to off and remove the plug from the
socket before carrying out any type of operation
inside the bean hopper. Do not pour coffee beans
