choice of ANchorAge poiNts
In-depth experiments conducted by Sabelt have shown that the choice of
position of the anchorage points and, consequently, the route taken by the belt
over the body of the occupant, play a key role in the effectiveness of the seat belt
in the event of an accident.
For this reason, Sabelt recommends using the anchorages provided by the
vehicle manufacturer, as indicated in the owner’s manual: other anchorage
points may be too weak and give way in the event of an accident. However,
in the event that, for the installation of FIA homologated belts, it should be
necessary to create additional anchorage points on the body, in addition to those
fitted as standard to the car, these must comply with what is set out in the FIA
standards in force at the date of installation and, in any case, the belts installed
must comply with the angles indicated in this document.

As an example, we can refer to

2) to determine the location of
anchorage points on standard
vehicles: usually the anchorages
(A-B) for lap straps are located
one to the right, generally on
the seat, and one to the left on
the car longitudinal (for the left
hand seat and symmetrically
for the right); for anchorage
(C) or anchorages (C-D) for the
shoulder straps use the lower
anchorages of the rear seat-belts
(generally located under the rear
cushions) or part of the roll-bar.
