Read the instructions, keep them safe, pass
them on if you pass the toaster on. Remove all
packaging before use.

A

  IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

Follow basic safety precautions, including:

1  The toaster must only be used by or under

the supervision of a responsible adult. Use
and store it out of reach of children.

2  Don’t put the toaster in liquid, don’t

use it in a bathroom, near water, or
outdoors.

3 Bread may burn. Don’t use the toaster near

or below curtains or other combustible
materials, and watch it while it’s hot.

4  The slot surrounds get hot – don’t touch!
5 If you’re only using one slot, leave the other

slot empty, as both slots will become “live”.

6 Unplug the toaster when not in use.

7  Sit the toaster upright on a stable, level,

heat-resistant surface.

8 Don’t put anything on top of the toaster.

9 Check that both crumb trays are fitted.

10  Route the cable so it doesn’t overhang, and

can’t be tripped over or caught.

11  Don’t toast sandwiches, buttered items,

torn, misshapen, or oversized slices of bread.

They may jam the toaster and/or catch fire.

12  If bread gets jammed, unplug the toaster,

let it cool, then carefully remove the bread.

13  Don’t use the toaster for any purpose other

than those described in these instructions.

14  Don’t use it with a timer or remote control.
15  Don’t use it if it’s damaged or malfunctions.
16  If the cable is damaged, return the toaster,

to avoid hazard.

household use only

U

  BEFORE FIRST USE

Check the slots are empty, set the browning

level to 6, and use the toaster without bread.

It may smoke a bit, but it’s nothing to worry

about – ensure the room is well ventilated.

T

 TOASTING BREAD

,

Treat the left and right pairs of slots as

independent 2-slot toasters – his and hers,

yours and mine – whatever works for you.

1  Put the plug into the wall socket.

2  Set the browning level (1 = light, 6 = dark).
3 Put bread into the slots (max 22mm thick).
4  Press the lever down fully – it won’t lock

down unless the toaster is connected to the
electricity supply.

5 The

5

light glows, and the elements heat.

6 When it’s done, the toast pops up, the light

and elements go off.

5

  EJECT

7  To stop mid-cycle, press

5

 .

f

  FROZEN BREAD

8 Leave the browning control at your usual

setting, insert the frozen bread, lower the
lever, then press

f

 .

9 The

f

light glows, and the toasting time is

altered automatically to give the same level
of browning you get with unfrozen bread.

m

  REHEATING TOAST

10  Leave the browning control at your usual

setting, insert the bread, lower the lever,
then press

m

 .

11  The

m

light glows, the toast gets a short

burst of heat, then it pops up.

12  Only reheat plain, “unbuttered” toast.

f

 BAGEL

13  Conventionally, only the brown crusty

surfaces of bagels are toasted; the soft inner
surfaces are just warmed.

14  Split the bagel, and put the halves into the

slots with the crusts towards the outside.

15  Leave the browning control at your usual

setting, lower the lever, then press

b

 .

16  The

b

light will glow, the brown outsides

of the bagel will be toasted, and the cut
sides will be warmed.

,

If you’re not conventional, and prefer your

bagels toasted on the cut side, feel free to
toast them the other way round – we won’t
tell anyone!

C

  HINTS AND TIPS

17  Old (yesterday’s) bread has less moisture, so

makes crisper toast.

18  Old bread, thin slices, and sweet bread

products (tea cakes, fruit loaf, etc.) brown
faster – use a lower setting.
