When servicing the air filter, plug the vent so that dust or
foreign matter does not enter the cylinder suction system.

Cylinder fins
Dust collected between the cylinder fins will cause the
engine to overheat. Regularly check the fins after removing the air filter and the cylinder
guard. When mounting the cylinder guard, make sure the switch wires and the O-rings are
positioned correctly.
11.5 MAINTENANCE OF THE GUIDE BAR
Reverse the guide bar occasionally to prevent partial
wear. The guide bar should always be symmetrical.
Check the bar guide is not worn. Apply a ruler on the
guide bar on the outside, and if you notice a distance
between the guide bar and the ruler, then it is worn.

When the guide bar is taken off, remove the sawdust from the guide bar groove and oil port.
Grease the chain wheel through the feed hole at the top of the guide bar.

11.6 SHARPENING THE CHAIN
For smooth and safe operation it is important to keep the chain teeth always sharp.
Teeth should be sharpened when:
• Sawdust turns into powder.
• Use more force to cut.
