4.5.2.2

Installing External PoE Power

If the required total PoE power exceeds the rated power for the built-in power module, the
external PoE power shall be co-used with the built-in power module to provide the greater
PoE power. The following steps shows how to install the external PoE power module:

(1)   2 persons horizontally hold the RG-PSE by both sides before moving it to the installtion

machine frame;

(2)  Fix the power module frame, remove the baffle of the power module frame and unscrew

the  lid  of  the  power  output  terminal.  If  you  have  configure  only  one  power  module,
remove only one of the power baffles before inserting the power module and tightening
the screws.

(3)   Unscrew the lid of the DC output terminal on the power frame. Connect one end of the

shipped  DC  output  power  cable  to  the  output  terminal  of  the  RG-PSE  power  module,
and  connect  the  other  end  to  the  built-in  PoE  power  module(for  example,
RG-PA300P)

s access port for the externel PoE power cable. It is worth mentioning that

the blue cable connects the

-

 end of RG-PA300P with the

load-

 end of RG-PSE, and

the red cable connects the

+

 end of RG-PA300P with the

load+

 end of RG-PSE.

(4)  Connect  one  end  of  the  shipped  power  communication  line  to  the  built-in  PoE  power

module

s  RS485  interface,  and  connect  the  other  end  to  the  monitoring  module

RG-PSE-M

s RS485

s interface.

(5)  Connect  one  end  of  the  shipped  AC  power  cable  to  the  RG-PSE  AC  power  input

interface,  and  connect  the  other  end  to  the  monitoring  module  RG-PSE-M

s  RS485

interface.

(6)  Complete the installation  of the external PoE  power systerm for the RG-S7800 series

switches. For the more detailed  installation, please refer to the

RG-PSE  Power  Quick

Installation Guide

.

Warning

1. The total PoE power for RG-S7800 must be greater than the power that the
user requires, otherwise it fails to provide the external power on the port.
2. RG-PSE is shipped with a power communication line. Connect one end of
the  communication  line  to  the  RS485  interface  for  the  built-in  PoE  power
module.  If  the  communication  line  is  not  connected,  RG-S7800  will  not
monitor the RG-PSE working state, and the host system will fail to identify the
number of the RG-PA800-PSE power modules inserted into the external PoE
power  system.  By  default,  the  PoE  power  is  calculated  in  accordance  with
only one RG-PA800-PSE inserted.

4.6

  Grounding

A  PGND  is  installed  on  the  back  of  RG-S7800.  You  must  first  connect  the  PGND  to  the
grounding terminal of the cabinet and then connect the grounding terminal to the grounding
bar of the equipment room.

4.6.1

Precautions

n

The  sectional  area  of  the  grounding  cable  should  be  determined  according  to  the
possible maximum current. Cables of good conductor should be used.

n

Do not use bare wire.

n

The grounding resistance for combined grounding should be less than 1

Ω
