Back wall/side wall
A combustible back wall and side wall are protected by
primary walling
and
thermal insulation
. The
primary walling must consist of shaped bricks, concrete or other suitable materials. It covers the entire
building wall within the cavity of the fireplace casing.
The thermal insulation must have long-term thermal resistance. It is designed seamlessly and covers
the entire primary walling within the fireplace casing.
There must be a spacing of at least

cm between the thermal insulation and the fireplace insert (see
following table). The fireplace insert may not be placed directly on the thermal insulation.
