CX511 Paper Shredder / Pencil Sharpener / Letter Opener

Cautions:

1. Never allow children to shred or play with paper shredder or else serious

injury could occur.

2. Do not place hands or fingers into the shredder throat as serious injury

could result.

3. Never spray canned air or any type of spray lubricant into the shredder while

shredder is plugged in or serious injury could result.

4.  Never place any lubricants or cleaning solutions into the paper shredder or

else serious injury could result.

5. Keep all loose articles of clothing, ties, jewelry, hair or other small items

away from the feed opening to prevent injury.

6.  Remove all paper clips and staples from paper before shredding.   The

shredder will cut staples and small paper clips; however, proper discretion
is recommended.

7. Keep the shredder turned off or unplugged when not in use for prolonged

periods of time.

8. When manually changing feed direction, pause long enough for the motor

to stop to avoid possible damage to the motor.

9. Always turn off and unplug the shredder prior to moving, cleaning or emptying

the wastebasket.

10.Empty the wastebasket frequently to avoid possible paper jams caused by

shredded material being pulled back into the cutter assembly.

Setup:

1. Place the Pencil Shavings Retention Cup provided with your shredder, inside

the metal ring attached to the inside of the wire mesh basket.

2. Place the shredder head securely on top of the wastebasket. Make sure that

the shredder head sits flush on top of the wastebasket or else the shredder
sharpener and opener will not work.

3. Plug the power cord into any standard 115 volt AC outlet.
4. Place the Power Slide Switch in the

AUTO

 position.

Operating the shredder:

The model CX511 Power Slide Switch is located on the top of the shredder. The main
switch has three (3) settings:

1. When

AUTO

is selected, the shredding process is started automatically by

inserting the folded paper into the feed opening.  The shredder will stop
automatically when the paper has completed its travel through the feed
opening.

2.

OFF

is used to terminate the AC power to the shredder.   This mode is

recommended when the shredder is not being used for a prolong period of time.

When the switch is in the

OFF

  position, the  Shredder, Sharpener and

Opener will not work.

3.

REV

is used to assist in the removal of a paper jam, which reverses the

shredding process prior to a completed cycle, thus clearing the cutters.

Shredder capacity:

The CX511 will shred up to five (5) folded sheets of 20 lb. bond paper and will accept
paper widths up to  5". When shredding small material like  credit card or receipts, insert
them through the middle of the feed opening.

Paper jams and motor overload situations:

The CX511 is equipped with a motor overload protection device. The normal short duty
cycle for continuous shredding at maximum capacity is 2 minutes on and 4 minutes off.
The power may terminate automatically in case of the following abnormal situations:

2

CX511 Paper Shredder / Pencil Sharpener / Letter Opener

1. Operating the shredder at the maximum 5 folded sheet capacity continuously for

a prolonged period of time, eg. more than 2 minutes without stopping.

2. Exceeding the shredding capacity, eg. inserting more than three  (5) sheets of 20

lbs. paper at one pass, or if the paper is not fed squarely into the feed opening.

Both abnormal operations may result in the activation of the thermal motor overload
protection which terminates the power to the shredder. A major paper jam could cause
the thermal motor overload protection to terminate AC power to the motor.  Never allow
the shredder to remain in a jammed condition with the AC power turned on.  If this occurs
you should:

In case of a major paper:

1. Set the power switch to the

OFF

position or unplug the power cord from the AC

outlet and wait at least 15 minutes for the thermal overload protection to reset.

2. Grasp the excess paper from the top and pull it out as you place the power switch

in the

 REV

position.  Be careful not to place your fingers near the feed opening

or else serious harm could result.

3. Set the power switch back to the

AUTO

 position.

4. You are now ready to resume normal shredding.

*** NOTE*** The Paper Shredder, Pencil Sharpener, and Letter Opener
are independent units.  NEVER use more than one of them at a time to
avoid excessive ware to the motor

.

Pencil Sharpener

1. To prevent motor damage, remove the pencil from the pencil opening when point

is sharpened.

2. Refrain from inserting hard materials such as pens, chalk, crayons or coloring

pencils which will damage or clog the cutting blades. Maximum pencil diameter
should not exceed 7.4mm. Standard #2 type pencil recommended.

To use the Sharpener:

1. With the switch in the

AUTO

position, insert the pencil into the pencil opening. The

sharpening starts immediately.

2. Pull out pencil at the end of the sharpening cycle.
3. Be sure to empty the pencil shavings retention cup frequently.

To use the Letter Opener:

1. Be sure that the letter inside the envelope is not against the leading edge of the

envelope will be inserted into the opener.

2. With the switch in the

AUTO

position, place the leading edge of the envelope into

the opening of the Letter Opener.  The cutters will start and feed the envelope
through automatically.
