Stipulated use
“Locking systems” in the sense of this definition are hardware for vertically
installed doors made of wood, PVC or aluminium and their corresponding
combinations of materials, which mainly have the task of closing and locking
doors.
“Closing” refers to keeping a door closed in such a way that it cannot be
opened by pushing or pulling but so that it is easy to open, for example by
using the lever handle. The latch is used to close the door.
“Locking” refers to securing the closed door by an unsprung rigid deadbolt
that has been pushed out of the door lock, and / or additionally by two or
more other locking elements, such as bolts. All locking elements engage in
corresponding recesses in the door frame, or in striker plates, the lock case,
etc. The deadbolt and / or the additional locking elements (e.g. bolts) are
responsible for locking. The deadbolt and the additional locking elements
are moved in order to unlock the door by turning the cylinder key and by
additionally actuating the lever handle.
The locking systems are intended to hold profile or round cylinders. The re-
quired dimensions and requirements for these cylinders can be found in the
technical documentation for the locking system. The locking systems are not
suitable for adapting to shape changes and changes to the seal as a result of
temperature differences or changes to the building.
The hardware in its entirety (locking system) must only be composed of origi-
nal Roto parts and in the combination specified by Roto for the profile series
and its frame / sash combination.
Using other parts which do not form part of the system can cause damage
which renders liability void.
The right combination, with permitted hardware and locking mechanisms
(e.g. key, cylinder) and accessories (e.g. striker plate), must be used during
installation in order to comply with the product’s stipulated use, in accord-
ance with the installation instructions and according to agreed DIN stand-
ards, including maintenance.
Doors for wet rooms and for use in environments with aggressive, corrosive
constituents in the air require special hardware. Mandatory legal regulations
must be complied with.
The stipulated use also includes compliance with all information contained
in the product-specific documentation, such as:
– These installation, maintenance and operating instructions
– Product catalogues
– Information and specifications provided by profile manufacturers
(e.g. for PVC or light metal profiles, etc.)
– Applicable national laws and directives
Any use that goes beyond or differs from the stipulated use is considered
misuse.
