Cleaning and maintenance
How to start the light-up
1. Upon completion of the preparations once again reassure that the heater is positioned
securely and correctly within the fireplace.
2. Now connect the lighter to the mains by plugging it into a power outlet.
3. The light-up process starts. Depending on the fuel material you may reckon with an
operation time of 10 - 20 minutes. Do not leave the lighter unattended during use and
never try to accelerate the light-up process by blowing into the fireplace with any kind
of blower or fan.
How to finish the light-up
1. To finish the light-up process, unplug the appliance from the mains by pulling the
power plug.
2. Take the lighter out of the fireplace. When doing so, pay attention that no glowing
embers fall out.
3. Let the lighter cool down.
Ensure that for cooling-down and storage the appliance is
placed on the provided base stand only.
• Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool down before cleaning!
• Clean the lighter with a moist cloth and wipe it dry afterwards.
•
Never immerse the appliance in water and make sure no steam or water
may infiltrate the handle!
•
Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning!
•
On no account, you must use steel wool, scrubbing pads, abrasives or sol-
vents!
Preparing the appliance for use
1. Fill a heat-resistant, solid and level fireplace with one layer of suitable fuel material,
e.g. charcoal or barbecue briquettes.
2. Place the lighter within the fireplace securely so that it will not fall out even if not
covered with fuel material. See to it that the plastic handle is situated outside the
fireplace.
3. Now fill the fireplace with a second layer of fuel material in order to cover the heating
element.
Pay attention that the heating element will be covered by the
fuel material only up to the spacer (max. depth).
