4.11 - MP3 History
MP3 is the small name of "MPEG Layer 3" and is an audio compression format developed by the
German company Fraunhofer Gesellschaft (FhG), this compression development began before 1987 with
a project known as EU147, then became involved in the project Professor Dieter Seitzer of the University
of Erlangen, who developed an algorithm to perfect the compression system however the research in the
company was carried out by Karlheinz Brandenburg who was a specialist in mathematics and electronics
who since 1977 had been researching methods for Compress song files.
For 1989 the Fraunhofer Company received the patent in Germany, in 1995 in the USA and for
September of 1998 the company makes known to all the designers of MP3 encoders and decoders, MP3
players that have to pay a fee for the authorization.
The MP3 is a compression format based on a psycho-acoustic model which shows that the human
ear can not hear all the audio frequencies of a recording, therefore discarding all those frequencies not
detected by the human being by means of a mathematical algorithm. compression of a tenth of the size of
the original file is achieved without losing quality in the sound, so the use of MP3 on the Internet has
become the format par excellence.
4.12 -
System with Pendrive and Compact Flash (RK4)
The Jukebox Digital RK4 system requires a Compact Flash as a hard drive and to store the song
files a 16Gb pendrive, usually in a folder called
"SongFileRK4",
so it is easy to add new song files, just just
connect the pendriver to the computer where the new files are stored and add them to the folder "
SongFileRK4", install the pendrive back to the jukebox and through the command
9985
in the
Programming Mode (Tumble + Volume Up) update the new files renaming them with the corresponding
number.
To find out what name the new files have, each time the Jukebox is turned on, a folder called
"Settings + Jukebox Name" is generated in Pendriver where you can find several Jukebox files, one of
them is
"Available.txt",
where you will find the information of all the songs that the Jukebox contains, as
well as the files:
"SongBoard.txt"
(template of the song board),
"Setting.txt"
(configuration of the
Jukebox), "Labels.txt" (all songs on the Songboard, is used to create the labels of the Songboard),
"Counter.txt"
(contains the volume information, the songs played, etc.).
IMPORTANT:
The name of the new music files cannot be a number, since the program renames the files from 101
onwards.
