SECTION FIVE
BASIC FAULT FINDING
The sterilising cycle is continually monitored to ensure correct progress. Should the system
fail to sterilise for any reason or should a fault develop that could prevent correct operation
the machine will lock out. The screen messages will help you or an engineer to determine
the cause of the fault.
Once the system is locked out the door will not release until after the lockout has been reset.
This helps reduce any risk of exposure to the potential hazard of unsterilised materials. Once
the lockout has been reset it is possible to re-start the sterilising process, or to open a door if
required to rectify the cause of the lockout. Before attempting to open the door, establish the
cause of the fault and the risks involved in opening the unit. Although the system has double
safety protection, take care, it is possible that the load could be at a high temperature or not
correctly sterilised. If you consider it safe to open the door or re-start the cycle, select the
options screen and select ‘reset lockout’ press enter to reset, then press door open. Provided
the temperature is below the safe temperature the door should release. If the temperature is
above that permitted then the display will indicate this. If this should be the case then you
will need to wait for the temperature to drop further before repeating the above sequence. To
re-start the cycle simply press the start button once the cause of the fault has been rectified.
Pressure switch
The safety door interlock pressure switch failed to operate at or above 103
C. check that the
door bolts are properly secured then restart the cycle
Service lockout
Service lockout occurs after a number of cycles or period of time. This can be reset in the
normal manner but will repeat until the cycle counter and time is correctly reset. To reset
cycle counter and period timer a service reset card or valid engineers card will be required.
This should only be performed after a service has been carried out by an authorised service
engineer
Power interruption
If the mains supply to the machine is interrupted during a program cycle then when the power
is restored the machine will attempt to resume from the point of failure. Under some
conditions this is not possible for example if the temperature has dropped below the
sterilising value. Under these conditions the machine will lock out displaying this message.
The load will have to be sterilised correctly or destroyed as appropriate.
Main door open
This can occur if one (or more) of the switches on the door bolts operate during a cycle, the
machine will lock out and will open the exhaust valve to vent pressure from the chamber.
Make sure the door bolts are secure and re-start the cycle
Door is unlocked
If the thermal lock solenoid does not release correctly this condition occurs. Make sure the
door bolts are secure and re-start the cycle
