180 x 145 x 70 mm
Functions:
Charge, discharge, cycle, balance
Protective functions:
Input:
Reverse polarity guard
Output:
Reverse polarity guard, short-circuit protection
Note:
If the input voltage falls below 11 V in DC mode, the output current is automatically reduced
by 1 A.
Reason:
if the voltage of a car battery is less than 11 V (at the charger input, not at the
battery terminals), it can safely be assumed that the battery is too “weak” for the task in
hand, and reducing the charge current lessens the load on the battery. Without this function
the battery voltage would continue to fall, and the charger would eventually switch itself off
due to inadequate voltage. Reducing the charge current in this way allows you to continue
charging for as long as possible even when the battery is weak.
Maximum charge currents in AC or DC mode:
AC mode:
DC mode:
Up to 16.5 V battery voltage: 6.5 A
Up to 20.5 V battery voltage: 6.5 A
At higher battery voltages the current is reduced.
Note re. charging Lithium batteries without a sensor lead:
If you are using the BID system, it is possible to charge Lithium batteries even without a
voltage sensor lead. However, the battery is not balanced if you do this, and the charger is
unable to check the cell count.
