Reception

Selecting the Reception Mode

There are two ways you can set up
your machine to handle incoming
calls:
• Manual Reception (external tele-

phone required)

• Auto Reception

Manual Reception

When a telephone call comes in, the
machine rings. If the call is a fax mes-
sage, you must manually change to
facsimile mode.

Auto Reception

When a telephone call comes in, the
machine automatically receives it as a
fax message. Use this setting for a
dedicated fax line.

Limitation

You cannot select the reception
mode when the optional Extra G3
Interface Unit is installed.

The optional external telephone is
required to use this machine as a
telephone.

You cannot select the reception
mode when you use an ISDN line.
