Fault Finding: Chart 7
Is the water leak intermittent?
Confirm if leak is condensate draining
from the evaporator condensate tray.

Is the leak from the anode?
Check for loose element bolts.
Remove the element and replace the
gasket.
Is the leak from the upper
electrical access cover?
Is the leak from the element
barrel fitting weld?
Remove the anode and repair the leak
using Teflon thread tape.

Leaking Water Heater
Inner Cylinder leaking, check for hot
spots on the jacket. Replace the
storage tank.
Replace the storage tank.
Is the leak from the connections
to or from the heat pump module?
Repair leak using Teflon thread tape.
Replace flexible hoses.

module?
Repair leak or replace leaking
component as required.

Fit a condensate drain tube and
advise the customer that some
discharge of water is normal

Remove the T&PR valve and repair
the leak using Teflon thread tape.

Is the leak from the cold water
fitting?
1. Remove the cold water fitting and
repair the leak using Teflon thread
tape.
2. Replace the fitting if the leak is
through the casting or from a quick
connect fitting.

1. Remove the tempering valve and
repair the leak using Teflon thread
tape.
2. Replace the tempering valve if the
leak is through the casting or from a
quick connect fitting.

Is the T&PR valve continuously
discharging water?
Is the water pressure more than
80% of the T&PR valve rating?
1. Pressure limiting valve missing or
faulty.
Fit or replace pressure limiting valve.
2. Replace the T&PR valve if required.

Is the correct T&PR valve fitted?
Replace the T&PR valve with one of
the correct pressure rating.
Do NOT use reconditioned T&PR
valves.
1. Check for a crossed water
connection.
