a) General information
• Keep it out of the reach of pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around
carelessly. This may become dangerous playing
material for children.
• Protect the appliance from extreme tempera-
tures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical
stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product
safely, take it out of operation and protect it from
any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer
be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor
ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-
related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, im-
pacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the opera-
tion, safety or connection of the appliance.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only
be completed by a technician or an authorised re-
pair centre.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered
by these operating instructions, contact our tech-
nical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Ingress protection
• The product complies with protection type IPX8.
• The equipment is suitable for continuous immer-
sion in water under conditions specified in these
operating instructions.
c) Power cable and plug
• Never pull the mains plug from the socket by
pulling at the cable. Always pull it from the mains
socket using the intended grips.
• Unplug the mains plug from the mains socket if
you do not use the device for an extended period
of time.
• Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket
in thunderstorms for reasons of safety.
• Make sure that the mains cable is not squeezed,
bent, damaged by sharp edges or put under me-
chanical stress. Avoid excessive thermal stress
on the mains cable from extreme heat or cold. Do
not modify the mains cable. Otherwise the mains
cable may be damaged. A damaged mains cable
can cause a deadly electric shock.
• Do not touch the mains cable if it is damaged.
First, power down the respective mains socket
(e.g. via the respective circuit breaker) and then
carefully pull the mains plug from the mains
socket. Never use the product if the mains cable
is damaged.
• Never plug in or unplug the mains plug when your
hands are wet.
• If you use an extension cable or if it is necessary
to lay cables to the fountain pump, make sure that
the cable cross section is not smaller than that of
the fountain pump.
Use only extension cables with protected con-
tacts designed for outdoor applications.
• Protect the cable from heat, oil/gasoline and
sharp edges. Do not step on the cable, do not
drive over it (e.g. with a wheelbarrow, bicycle,
car). Never bend the cables and do not place
objects on them.
• Ensure that connection for the electric plug is lo-
cated in an area protected against flooding; other-
wise there is a lethal danger of an electric shock!
• The fountain pump may never be held, carried or
secured via the mains cable; there is a risk of a
fatal electrical shock!
d) Product
• The product is designed according to protection
class I. As a voltage source, only a proper pro-
tective contact socket of the public mains system
may be used.
• Any damage caused by malfunction or product
fault, should be prevented by relevant measures
(e.g. by use of water level gauge, sensors, alarm
devices).
e) Before use
• Check the product for damage before each use,
e.g. of the housing, the gaskets, and the power
cord/plug. If you find any damage, you must not
use the product.
• If the product is already connected to the mains,
switch off the mains at the respective socket (e.g.
by turning off the circuit breaker). Furthermore,
turn off the residual current device to disconnect
all poles of the socket from the mains voltage.
Following this, you may remove the power plug
of the fountain pump from the socket. The prod-
uct must no longer be used after that; take it to a
specialist workshop.
f) Fluid medium
• The product is not suitable for the conveyance of
drinking water.
g) Location
• The use of the product in the proximity of ponds,
wells, swimming pools, springs, etc. is not permit-
ted unless the product is operated via a ground
fault circuit interrupter (circuit breaker FI, fault
current <=30mA).
In Austria, a safety isolating transformer con-
trolled by the Austrian Electro-technical Associa-
tion should be connected upstream to the ground
fault circuit interrupter.
h) Operation
• The fountain pump should only be operated in an
upright position!
• Always disconnect the device from the mains
socket when not in use, and before repairs, main-
tenance or cleaning.
• Do not block the discharge unit of the fountain
pump while it is in operation.
• The product is not protected against longer dry
runs (> 2 minutes).
• No one should be in the fluid medium while the
pump is operating.
• When the product is taken from a cold room to a
warm room (e.g. during transport), condensation
may be produced. As a result, the plug may pose
the risk of a lethal electric shock!
Always let the product get to room temperature
before you use or connect it to the mains voltage.
This may take several hours.
Fluid medium
Note
• Only use fresh water.
• The water temperature should be between 5 to 35 °C.
• Water should be as clean as possible. Fine suspended matter that may occur in every normal
garden pond is acceptable. Impurities (e.g. sand, earth, leaves etc.) cause wear and can:
- Reduce the life span of the fountain pump.
- Block the rotor and intake port.
Location
Note
• Do not place the pump on bottom sediment, use a raised base e.g. stone disc.
• The ambient temperature must not be near or below freezing point (0 °C). Frozen water in the
pump can expand and destroy it.
