Operation

Remove the protective sheet from the LCD (1).

a)  Inserting/changing batteries

Install  the  batteries  before  first-time  use  or  replace  the  batteries  when  the

Hi

Lo

battery symbol appears in the LCD. Removing and replacing batteries will delete all

stored settings.
•  Open the battery compartment lid (12) and insert four new type AA 1.5 V batteries

(not included) into the battery compartment observing correct polarity (po

and negative/-).

•  Reclose the battery compartment.

The lower voltage of rechargeable batteries (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V,

battery = 1.5 V) and the lower capacity result in a shorter operating time

compared to normal batteries. For that reason we recommend you using

high-quality alkaline batteries in order to guarantee long and safe operation.
If the LCD does not show any correct readings or if the LCD is empty, press

the

RESET

button (10) using a pointed object (e.g. an unfolded paper clip).

The built-in processor will be reset and the radio wall clock will switch to

DCF reception mode.

b)  Setting up and installation

In order to guarantee proper DCF reception, the radio wall clock should not

be positioned next to other electronic devices, cables, metal parts, etc.
Do not install the radio wall clock too close to heat sources.

•  The rear side of the device features a suspension eye (6) for wall installation.

When drilling screw holes or when tightening screws, make sure not to

damage any existing cables or pipes (including water pipes).

Attach the product using a screw (not included) and let the screw protrude several

millimeters from the wall. Then attach the radio wall clock by placing the suspension

eye onto the screw head. Handle the product carefully during attachment.

•  Alternatively, use the foldable feet (11) on the product for installation on a

horizontal,  stable  and  sufficiently  large  surface.  When  installing  the  product  on

valuable furniture, use suitable padding in order to avoid scratching. Unfold the feet

backwards for desktop installation.

Receiving DCF signal

•  After installation of the batteries, a short signal will sound, all parts of the display

will light up briefly, and then the radio wall clock will automatically search for the

DCF signal. This will be indicated by the flashing

Hi

Lo

 radio reception symbol and the

flashing radio wave icons in the LCD.

•  This synchronization procedure usually takes about 6 to 16 minutes. Once the DCF

signal has been decoded, the clock will display the accurate time. After successful

reception, the display will permanently show the radio reception symbol. The number

of displayed radio waves indicates the reception quality. In case of unsuccessful

reception, the LCD will not show any symbol

Hi

Lo

or show the radio reception symbol

but without radio waves

Hi

Lo

.

Do not move the radio wall clock and do not press any button or switch

during that search procedure.
Bad DCF reception is likely in case of metallized, insulated glass windows,

reinforced-concrete structures, coated special wallpapers, in the proximity

of electronic devices, or in basements.
Due to atmospheric disturbances, the radio signal might not be received

instantly in some situations. Let the radio wall clock operate over night,

since reception is better during nighttime.
If the clock does not display the time after approx. 16 minutes, change the

position of the radio wall clock and manually restart the DCF reception

procedure (see chapter “Manual DCF reception”).

Every day at 2 a.m., 8 a.m., 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. the clock

will automatically synchronize the DCF time. That is

enough to keep any time deviation below 1 second

per day.
The DCF signal is transmitted from a station located

in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range is

1500 km, under ideal reception conditions even up to

2000 km. The DCF signal contains, amongst others,

the exact clock time (theoretical time deviation of

one second in one million years!), the date, and the

weekday. Inconvenient manual setting of daylight saving time and wintertime is not

required.

Manual DCF reception

•  Press and hold the

RCC

button (9) for 8 seconds to cancel the manual reception

procedure (“OFF”).

•  Press and hold the

RCC

button (9) for 8 seconds to start the manual reception

a)  Manually setting the date and time

Manually setting the clock time and calendar is only required, if the radio

wall clock is used outside of the DCF reception area, if you wish to use

another time zone than the one used in Germany, or if the DCF reception is

impaired due to ambient conditions.
A successful DCF reception will override the manual settings for date and

time.
