3.

Secure the hard disk drive with suitable screws (not included). A 8.89 cm (3.5") or

6.35 cm (2.5") hard disk drive can be secured at the sides with up to four screws

through the base plate. Only use screws with a matching thread and correct

length. Tighten the screws with moderate force.

4.  Put the housing cover that you removed at the beginning back on correctly.

We recommend that you always screw the hard drive to the housing. Be

very careful when moving and transporting the hard drive enclosure if a

hard disk drive is inserted but not secured with screws. Attaching the hard

disk drive using only the connector is not designed to withstand sudden

movements or impacts.

Operation

a)  Connecting the USB cable

1.  Connect the USB-B plug of the USB cable to the hard drive enclosure.
2.  Connect the USB-A plug of the USB cable to a USB port on your computer.

b)  Connecting the power adapter

1.  Connect the low-voltage plug on the connector cable (1) to the DC input socket on

the hard drive enclosure.

2.  Connect the power adapter to a mains socket. The connected hard disk drive turns

on.

Operating the hard drive enclosure

If you want to use a hard disk drive that has not been used before, it must be partitioned

and formatted before it appears in the file manager of the operating system and can

be used as a drive. For formatting, consult the operating instructions of the operating

system that you are using.
•  When the status LED (3) illuminates the hard disk drive is ready. Data transmission

can now take place. The status LED (3) flashes when data exchange is under way.

•  Your computer must support the USB 3.0 standard in order to be able to use USB

3.0 speeds.

•  Of course, the product can also be operated via USB 2.0. However, the speed will

not be the same as for USB 3.0.

•

Before  turning  the  product  off,  eject  the  hard  disk  drive  from  your  computer  to

avoid data loss. If necessary, refer to the documentation of the operating system

manufacturer.

•

Turn  the  product  off  by  removing  the  power  adapter  from  the  power  supply  and

disconnecting the USB cable from the computer.

•

To avoid data loss, never turn the product off when data exchange is in progress.

Maintenance and cleaning
