Hazards and Precautions
Please pay careful attention to the following points before commencing the installation or
any serving work.
a.
The heat pump should not be powered on or run with the side panel, fan guard, louver
panel or indoor unit front cover removed.
b.
Please be aware that heat pump components within the enclosed casings can be hot
enough to cause severe burns even after the unit has stopped operating.
c.
The black electronics box does not require to be opened during install and should only
be ever opened by a RED trained engineer. The electric drive components contain
capacitors which remain live even after the power is isolated to the heat pump.
d.
The fan mounted on top of the heat pump is powerful and could cause injury or
damage if it comes in physical contact with any obstacle.
e.
The evaporator louver panels may need to be removed for cleaning, however the
evaporator fins are extremely fine and can cause cuts or be damaged easily.
f.
During operation the evaporator can be extremely cold or hot depending on the cycle
condition. Never attempt to touch the evaporator at any stage during its operation
and never try to remove obstacles or ice from the louvers.
g.
The heat pump should be transported to the installation site within the wooden crate
provided and kept upright and secure in transit. The pallet should only be lifted with
a pallet trolley or fork lift.
h.
The heat pump must be lifted from the crate and positioned in the installation location
using the provided lifting equipment and brackets as described in section 5. A
minimum of two people is necessary to lift the heat pump and it should not be pushed
of trailed along the ground. The correct PPE should be used and correct manhandling
and lifting techniques should be employed to avoid risk of injury. Never attempt to
lift or move the heat pump without the correct assistance.
i.
Only a trained and component person that fully understands the installation
requirements should every attempt to install the heat pump.
j.
Under no circumstance should the sealed refrigerant circuit be tampered with in any
way. Care should be taken to avoid any cutting, burning or grinding near refrigeration
pipework. If a leak in the refrigeration pipework was to occur never attempt to stop
the refrigerant with your hand as if will cause severe burns and frost bite.
k.
The heat pump must be installed so that it can be isolated both electrically and
hydraulically. The covers should never be removed from either the heat pump or
indoor unit without first isolating the appliances.
l.
Ensure all pipework is correctly assembled and sealed before pressuring system to
avoid water leaks within the enclosed heat pump unit.
m.
The electrical install must be carried out by an electrician in accordance to BS 7671 to
the latest edition and national standards and to the wiring diagram within the
document. In the event either the indoor controller or heat pump are not wired
correctly there is the possibility of casing serious harm or death, also the electrical
hardware can be damaged.
n.
If for any reason a part required replacing, please contact RED and only ever use
original spares supplied.
