Sleep Timer
The sleep timer allows you to set an amount of time you want to give before the TV/VCR shuts
itself off. Each press of the SLEEP button will count down 10 minutes on the clock, starting at
120 minutes. After the sleep timer is set, the screen will display the time every ten minutes to
remind you the sleep timer is operating. To display the sleep timer momentarily, press SLEEP
and the remaining time will be shown. To cancel the sleep timer, press SLEEP repeatedly until
the display turns to 0.
Using Closed Captioning
Many programs are encoded with closed-captioning information, which lets you display the
audio portion of a program as text on the TV screen.
Closed captioning is not available on all channels at all times. Only specific programs encoded
with closed-captioning information are applicable. Check your TV/VCR program listings for CC
(closed caption) broadcasts.
To use closed captioning, press the CAPTION button on the remote. Press once to view Caption
Channel 1, twice to view Caption Channel 2, and again to view Full Screen Text.
Caption Channel 1
Displays the full translation of the primary language in your area.
Caption Channel 2
May be used as a second source for secondary languages.
Text
Display on-screen box containing the text of general information not necessarily
related to the program being watched.
Note:
The Text modes cover nearly half of the picture on-screen to display the closed-
captioned text.
