INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Introduction
To get the most out of your new wall detector,
please read these instructions and the attached
safety regulations before use. Please also save the
instructions in case you need to remind yourself of
the detector’s functions at a later date.
Technical specifications
Power supply:
9 V battery
Size:
165 × 80 × 30 mm
Wall detector, components
1. Central slot
2. Warning light for power cable detection
3. On/off button
4. Centreline indicator
5. Function indicators
6. Function selector
Inserting batteries
Remove battery cover on underside of unit, and
insert one 9 V battery. Check the battery is
correctly positioned and replace the cover.
Replace the battery when the detector cannot be
calibrated or no longer functions.
Remove the battery if the detector is not to be
used for a long period.
Calibration
The detector has to be calibrated before use.
Set the function selector (6) to the desired
position according to what you want to locate.
STUD: beams; AC WIRE: power cables; METAL:
metal. The corresponding function indicator (5)
will light.
Hold the front end of the detector (with central
slot (1)) against the wall to be scanned and press
the on/off button (3).
The detector will emit an audible signal. When the
signal stops, the detector is calibrated. Release the
on/off switch
Avoid placing the detector on solid materials
(beams, metal etc.) or wet or newly-painted
surfaces during calibration.
If the detector detects a power cable during
calibration, the warning light for power cable
detection (2) will light when calibration is
complete.
Ensure calibration is performed under conditions
that correspond as much as possible to the
following: For example: do not calibrate the
detector on a thick brick wall and then use on a
thin plasterboard partition wall. This will result in
inaccurate readings.
Use
Calibrate the detector as described above.
Set function selector to the desired position
according to what you want to locate. The
corresponding function indicator will light.
Press on/off button, place the front end of detector
against wall and move slowly in a straight line
horizontally across the wall surface.
When the detector approaches an object (beam,
electrical cable or metal), the arrows on either side
of the centreline indicator (4) will light. Slow
down when this occurs.
When the detector reaches the edge of an object,
the centreline indicator will light and an audible
signal will be emitted.
