The Tip/Ring interface will work in a crude fashion with non-Telecenter
®
telephone platforms; however, you will lose the following features: pre-
assignment, privacy, single digit connect, and #24 (Media Center) functions.
E&M Interface and Backwards Compatibility
9
The MRC7601 does not provide initialization or ending tones internally for the
E&M interface. The Telecenter
®
head-end must provide these tones.
9
There has been a significant change in the ending tone function for Laser Disk
Video Players. On the MR100, the Release digit (“0”) had the side affect of
leaving the MR100 in the Numeric mode. It was therefore necessary to have an
asterisk (“*”) initialization tone to bring the unit back into the Command mode.
9
This is not true for the MRC7601. When the MRC7601 receives the Release
digit, it stays in the Command mode. In systems that have Laser Disks
connected to both MR100 and MRC7601 units, program the “0*” initialization
tone for the MR100, but don’t program any initialization tones for the
MRC7601. (The MRC7601 interprets the “*” digit as the “Audio Channel 2”
command.)
9
The MRC7601 emulates the current MR100 version 8.0 functionality.
Specifically, when controlling a VCR, digit 5 is STOP, and digit 0 is release.
With earlier versions, digit 5 both STOPs and RELEASEs the VCR, and digit 0
is RELEASE only. If you are mixing MRC7601 and MR100 units in the same
site, and the MR100 firmware is version 6.0 or earlier, be sure the school staff
knows that they MUST hit 0 to release.
MR200 Rack Installation
Step 1: If the rack holes are not tapped, clip the four supplied Tinnerman nuts, flat
side to the front, over the appropriate holes.
Step 2: Install the MR200 chassis in the rack with the supplied mounting
hardware: the fiber washers go between the flat washers and the front of the
chassis, to protect the chassis’ finish.
Step 3: Remove the “U” shaped locking bar and its two thread-forming screws
from the rear of the chassis and set them aside.
