Now, carefully slide the pre-assembled block under the frame, as shown in picture 19, and fix the
block to the vacant upper mounting hole, using either a 17mm spanner or a ratchet fitted with a
17mm socket,
making sure not to fully tighten.
•
Move to the RHS of the bike and repeat the previous 4 steps using the RHS mounting block (item 2
–
M0580).
•
Push the engine bar through both mounting blocks, ensuring even protrusion, then fit one washer
(item 14) and one nyloc nut (item 16) to either end as shown in picture 20. Engage one of the nuts
so the plastic insert is fully engaged and the bar protrudes by 1-2 threads. It is recommended to
use a small amount of superglue or Loctite to fix this nut as this will aid when tightening the
opposite side later.
•
Using a rachet fitted with a 17mm socket on either end of the engine bar, as shown in picture 21,
tighten both nuts evenly and ensure that the plastic insert of both nuts are fully engaged and equal
on both sides. Now fully tighten both upper engine bolts.
•
Now pre-assemble the LHS crash protector as shown in picture 22 and in the diagram on page 3;
first slide one M12 washer (item 13) over one of the longer bolts (item 11
–
160mm long), followed
by one shake-proof washer (item 15). Slide this through one of the aero crash bobbins (item 7
–
B0431), then slide one of the 100mm long spacers (item 4 - S1176) over the exposed end of the
bolt.
•
Offer the pre-assembled crash protector up to the respective mounting hole on the LHS mounting
block, as shown in picture 23, then tighten the crash protector bolt using a ratchet fitted with a
19mm socket until you feel some compression. Tighten a little more so that you feel the
compression increase slightly, then apply a quarter turn. Do not over-tighten as damage can occur
to the bike. Do not exceed 40Nm of torque.
PLEASE NOTE, THE CRASH PROTECTOR MUST BE
POSITIONED AS IN THE DIAGRAM ON PAGE 5, WITH THE LARGER END TOWARDS THE
FRONT OF THE BIKE.
•
Repeat the previous 2 steps for the RHS crash protector as shown in picture 24, ensuring the crash
protectors sit at the same angle on both sides.
•
Fit the hex head bolt caps (item 10
–
NC0002) to the upper mounting bolt heads and domed head
nut caps (item 9
–
NC0004) to the engine bar nuts, then fit crash protector caps (item 8
–
BC0002)
to both bobbins, as shown in picture 25.
•
In order to re-fit the front sprocket cover removed earlier, a simple modification will be
required.
Mark a 45x40mm section from the top right corner of the cover as shown in picture 26,
then cut out the section using a hacksaw or bandsaw, finally smoothing the cut edges with a file.
•
Re-fit the modified sprocket cover to the bike with the original bolts, using a ratchet fitted with an
8mm socket as shown in picture 27, then re-fit both sides of the fairing.
