Philosophy of crossovers
Experimentation is encouraged!
The crossovers are designed so that a large number of combinations on the personal sound settings are
possible. Since everyone hears differently and every car sounds different, we can specify only the basic
positions here. For this reason, the settings should be experimented with deliberately!
Usually, the driver's side sounds louder in the high and midrange sound, because the driver sits
immediately in the direct sound field of the speakers. In contrast, the passenger side sounds lighter for
the driver, because it is farther away from his ear and run-time differences are already perceived.
Inevitably, the result is an uneven sound.
A basic correction of the acoustic pattern can be achieved as follows: The crossovers of the passenger
side are set to a "linear progression". In contrast, the settings (reduction) of the crossover of the driver's
side is changed until a sound pattern that is stress-free and comfortable in one’s opinion is achieved.
Normally, the tweeter and midrange are at least 6 dB quieter than on the passenger side. (For optimum
setting, contact a specialist dealer who can still adjust the frequency response more accurately with
corresponding instrumentation.)
Attention:
It is important to ensure that
all
speakers are correctly connected prior to initial operation of
the crossovers. Should the crossovers be operated without speakers, a very high current is
produced on the LC oscillating circuits without a load, which could, depending on the
circumstances,
destroy
the coils! The cable bridges of the crossovers must
always
be
connected according to the aforementioned instructions. Other combinations are
not
functional
and do not behave like connected speakers! In addition, the crossover will not
work correctly in case of connection errors in the designated area.
Maintenance and Care
The components should be freed of dirt in regular intervals since the prevailing conditions in the vehicle
can become dirty very quickly and can have negative effects on the material. For this purpose, use a
soft, slightly damp cloth and then rub it lightly with a clean, dry cloth. Never use solvent or biological
cleansing agents under any circumstance.
