wormgearandbronzedrivegear(inthetruckblock)with
grease.
Reassemble the truckandmotor,beingcarefulnottopinch
thepickupandgroundwiresbetweenthetruckblockand
motor mount.
Repeattheprocedureifenginehasmorethanonemotor.
Reassemble the chassisandbody,beingcarefulthatthe
wiresarenotcaughtbetweenthebodyandchassis,as
thiscanleadtoashortthatmaydamagetheelectronics
beyondrepair.

Cleaning the Wheels, Tires and Track
Periodically check the locomotive wheels andpickupsfordirt
andbuildup,whichcancausepoorelectrical contact andtraction
andprematurely wear out the neoprene traction tires. Wheels and
tires canbecleanedusingdenatured(notrubbing)alcoholapplied
with a cotton swab.
To clean the track,useRailKingTrackCleaningFluidandaclean
rag or denatured (not rubbing) alcohol. Unplugthetransformer and wipe the rails of the
track,turningtheragfrequentlytoensurethatyouareusing clean cloth ontherails.
Because the manufacturingprocess leaves a coating on RealTrax center r ail, youshould
clean therailsafterthefirst30minutesofuse(youmaynoticeanelectricalsmellduring
initial use as thecoatingwearsoff;thisisnormal). Thereafter,keepaneyeonthetrack
andcleanitwhenitgetsdirtytoensuregoodelectricalcontactandtolengthen the life of
the tires.
Traction Tire Replacement Instructions
Your locomotive is equipped withtwoneoprenerubbertractiontiresontherearsetof
flangeddrivers. While these tires are extremelydurable,youmayneedtoreplacethemat
some point.

Removetwoscrewsfrombelowtruckside.
Removethetrucksidesfromthetruckblock.
Makesuretheoldtirehasbeencompletely
removed fromthegrooveinthedrivewheel,
usingarazorbladeorsmallflatheadscrewdriver
topryawayanyremains.
Cleanthegrooveusingacottonswaband
denaturedalcohol.
