4 Operation
Before commissioning the RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96, you should carefully read and
understand the entire manual to be familiar with the system.
4.1 RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET
The control of the RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96, presetting, data output, and analysis are
controlled via a separate software solution (RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET).
Therefore, the software must be installed in order to use the instrument. To do this, follow the
instructions in the Software user manual.
Start the RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET software.
4.2 Switching on
The RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 requires a connection to the computer for power supply, to start
the experiment, and for data transfer. Insert the Micro-USB cable into the
RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 and the USB port of the computer.
The RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 starts automatically when connected to a computer via the
Micro-USB cable and the RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET automatically establishes a connection.
When the RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 is switched on, the signal lights on the top of the
instrument light up. Each time the instrument is switched on an internal self-test is performed
to ensure, that there are no malfunctions.
4.3 Carrying out the experiment
For details on how to carry out experiments, please read the manual of the RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET. A brief description of the procedure is given below.
Before starting an experiment, make sure that the RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 is properly
connected to the computer and the RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET software.
The experiment consists of two steps:
1. Calibration
Start in the RIDASOFT
®
Win.NET software a new assay und choose, if you want to use a
reference channel. Afterwards, a calibration in the measurement channels will be executed
automatically.
This is indicated by a short illumination of the respective signal lights.
Warning!
Make sure that there is no microtiter plate in the slot during calibration. Only
insert the microtiter plate into the slot of the RIDA
®
ABSORBANCE 96 after
successful calibration.
