Replacing a Node Processor and Heatsink

Installing a Replacement Network Daughter Card
To install the replacement network daughter card in the DXi6900 G2 Node:
1. Angle the card so that the RJ-45 connectors fit through the slot in the back panel (see Figure 75 on the
previous page ).
2. Align the captive screws at back end of the card with the captive screw sockets on the system board.
3. Press the touch point on the card until the card connector is firmly seated on the system board
connector.
4. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, tighten the two captive screws to secure the network daughter card to
the system board.
5. Replace the quad port SAS card in expansion card riser 2 (see Replacing an Expansion Card in Riser 2
or 3 on page 101 ).
6. Close the Node cover (see Opening and Closing the Node on page 64 ).
7. Turn on the system (see Turning On the DXi6900 G2 on page 22 ).
8. Run Factory Detect Hardware from the Service Menu to detect the new hardware (see Factory
Detect Hardware on page 38 ).
9. In the remote management console, delete any administrative alerts and close any service tickets.

Obtaining a Replacement Processor and Heatsink
Before beginning the replacement procedure, make sure that you have the required replacement kit. The
appropriate replacement processor and heatsink will be provided by Quantum Customer Support (see
Figure 76 on the next page ).
You will need the following items to perform this procedure:

Replacement processor and heatsink kits provided by Quantum Customer Support.
