MHL Applications for Testing MHL Sink/Dongle Devices
This section describes the MHL test applications supported by Quantum Data test instruments and utilities for testing
MHL sink/dongle devices.
4.1
MHL Sink Functional Testing
You can run a functional test on an MHL sink using the TPA-MHL2-8R and an HDMI source device. However there
are a couple important notes to be aware of about the limitations of functional testing at 1080p60 format resolution.
Note 1
: For functional testing of an MHL 1.3, 2.0, 2.1 sink device, you will have to switch to and from Packed Pixel
mode using commands if you want to test 1080p60 resolutions. These commands are only supported
through the Quantum Data 980 and 882.
Note 2
: You will not be able to test an MHL 1.3, 2.0, 2.1 sink device with HDCP encrypted content through the TPA-
MHL2-8R.
