Master or Slave
In a point-to-point system one module must be configured as a Master while the other must be configured as a
slave. The Master or Slave mode is set with DIP switch 8 as shown in the table below.

Radio or Line
The two Q23 modules in the point-to-point system can be inter-connected with wires run between the I.P.B. RS485
RJ10 connectors or by Tait ORCA ELAN data radios connected to the RS232 port RJ45 connectors. The Line or
Radio mode is set with DIP switch 7 as shown in the table below.

Line Operation
When the point-to-point system is operated in Line mode the DIP switches 5 and 6 set the I.P.B. RS485 baud rate.
The baud rate settings are shown in the table below. These must be set the same for both master and slave.

Change of state

The first three polling options in the above table apply to the master module only. They have no effect at the slave
module.
The change of state transmission option applies to a change in a digital inputs state or a 5% change in the Analog
input states. The change of state transmission will transfer all input states to the other module in the point-to-point
system. The reply from the other module will transfer all that module’s input states back to the module initiating the
change of state transmission.
If the change of state option is enabled in the master then the master will not do any background polling. It is
acceptable to set the master for 1 or 5 minute background polling and to set the slave for change of state polling.
