Plumbing System
OS 285
all air from the water heater and lines before
activating the water heater breaker. Refer to
the water heater owner’s manual for addi-
tional information.
Shore Water Connection
The shore water connection directly con-
nects the water system to a shoreside water
supply. This provides the system with a con-
stant supply of fresh water and minimizes
the pressure pump operation. Mounted in
the cockpit is a female inlet fitting.
To use shore water, connect a hose from the
shore-water faucet to the shore-water fitting
on the boat. Next, turn on the shore water.
The pressure pump will not run and the
water in the boat’s water tank is not used.
Connecting to shore water does not fill the
water tank.
5.2 Raw Water Washdown
Hoses connected to a ball valve and thru-
hull fitting located in the bilge supply the raw
water washdown pump.
Operation
Always make sure the ball valve is open
before attempting to operate the raw water
washdown system. A switch on the helm
activates the washdown pump. When acti-
vated, the pressure switch will automatically
control the pump. As the pressure builds in
the washdown hose, the pump will shut off.
When the washdown hose is in use and the
pressure drops, the pump will turn on. Turn
off the washdown system off when not in
use.
The raw water washdown system is
equipped with a sea strainer on the intake
side of the pump located in the aft bilge.
Check the strainer frequently and clean as
necessary.
Washdown Hose Connector (Typical)
Priming the System
Open the ball valve. Open the hose connec-
tor for the raw water washdown and activate
the pressure pump. Run the pump until to
purge all the air from the system. Close the
thru-hull ball valve before removing the boat
from the water to eliminate an air lock in the
system. It may be necessary to re-prime the
raw water system if not used for an
extended period.
!
CAUTIOM
Do not supply current to an empty
water heater. Damage to the heater
will result. Fill and prime the system
before using the water heater.
!
CAUTION
Do not modify or change the shore-
water inlet connector with another
type without consulting Pursuit cus-
tomer relations or your dealer. The
use of the wrong type of inlet connec-
tor can damage the fresh water sys-
tem.
!
CAUTION
Always turn the raw water pump
switch to the “off” position when leav-
ing the boat unattended.
