BEEP CODE #9 - Possible Controller Trip

Diagnosis:

!

The key may have been inserted during battery box installation.

!

The controller may be overheated.

!

The brake (or drive system) is dragging, causing the motor to pull too much current.

Solution:
Use the following procedure to determine the source of the fault:
1. Before installing the battery box, remove the key from the key switch. After installing the battery box, power on the

scooter.

— If you do not receive a beep code, the scooter should run.
— If you receive a beep code,
then shut down the scooter for 10–15 minutes to allow the controller to cool and then

retest the system.

Retesting System After Cool Down
— If the beep code stops after shutting down and the scooter drives when powered up, then go to the next step.
— If the beep code persists, then replace the S-Drive controller (7) and retest the system.

2. If the brake (or drive system) is dragging, the scooter

may drive for a period of time before emitting a beep
code. Once a beep code sounds, remove the key from
the key switch and place the scooter in freewheel mode.

— If the scooter can be pushed easily with no resis-

tance, then replace the S-Drive controller (7) and re-
test the system.

— If the scooter cannot be pushed easily while in free-

wheel mode, then go to the next step.

3. Remove the brake from the motor. See figure 29.
4. With the brake removed from the motor, try to push

the scooter.

— If the scooter can be pushed easily with no resis-

tance, then replace the brake (8d).

— If the scooter cannot be pushed easily, then go to

the next step.

5. Remove the motor from the transaxle. See figure 29.
6. With the motor removed from the transaxle, try to push

the scooter.

— If the scooter can be pushed easily with no resis-

tance, then replace the motor (8c).

— If the scooter cannot be pushed easily, then replace

the transaxle (8e).
