B. Human Errors when TESTING

i. Testing on calibration disc and result does not show “14K”

Sometimes, to ensure your device is working accurately,

you may wish to test on the provided Calibration Disc

which is of 14K gold. If you do not get “14K” as your result

when testing on the calibration disc, these could be the

possible cause and suggested solutions.

Possible causes:

•  Calibration was done incorrectly, calibrating on wrong

material

•  Calibration disc is not clean

•  Wrong color of gold selected in <<Settings>>

•  Probe tip has been worn out

•  Sliding/moving when doing calibration

Suggested solutions:

•  Re-calibrate again using provided Calibration Disc

•  Ensure  calibration  disc  is  clean  by  cleaning  it  with

eraser provided

•  Go to <<Settings>> and ensure ‘Yellow Gold’ or ‘White

Gold’ corresponding to the color of the test sample,

has been selected and set

•  Remove  the  worn  probe  tip  and  replacing  it  with  a

new one (It is recommended to change the probe

tip if calibration errors are persistent and/or incorrect

reading of calibration disc occurs more than 3 times)

•  Prevent  sliding/moving  until  the  on-screen  progress

bar is completed during calibration

ii. Non-conductive samples tested with results as ‘Not Gold’

Non-conductive samples should never test as ‘Not Gold’ as

‘Not Gold’ refers to conductive metals that do not contain gold.

Possible causes:

•  Size  of  non-conductive  sample/gold  sample  is  less

than 2.5mm thickness

•  Testing  liquid  when  dispensed  has  touched  the

conductive plate instead of the sample

Suggested solutions:

•  Ensure  that  when  testing  a  small/thin  gold  sample

of less than 2.5mm thickness, the sample is placed

across both the conductive and non-conductive plates

on the Testing Platform and the probe pen is held to

the part that is on the non-conductive plate.
