Procedure 7.6 - Replacing the Upper or Lower Interconnect
Cable or Heart Rate Cable
1. For C842, C842i, C846i and C846 version 2 units, skip to step 18. For C846 version 1 units,
continue with step 2.
2. Set the on/off switch in the off position.
3. Remove the left hand cover per Procedure 7.1.
4. If you are only replacing the upper interconnect cable, skip to step 9.
5. Disconnect the lower interconnect cable from the junction block (See Diagram 7.7) and the
lower PCA.
6. Slide the lower interconnect cable out of the cable clips and remove the lower interconnect
cable.
7. Connect the replacement lower interconnect cable to the junction block and the lower PCA.
8. Dress the interconnect cable into the proper position and slide it into the cable clips.
9. If you are not replacing the upper interconnect cable, skip to step 15.
10. Remove the display housing per Procedure 7.12, steps 1-4.
11. Disconnect the upper interconnect cable from the junction block located near the base of the
column.
12. Tape the replacement upper interconnect cable to the lower end of the interconnect cable
that protrudes from the lower access hole (See Diagram 7.7).
13. Carefully pull the interconnect out of the top end of the column. When the replacement
interconnect cable emerges from the top of the column, remove the tape and discard the
original upper interconnect cable.
14. Reconnect the upper interconnect cable to the junction block.
15. Connect the upper interconnect cable to the upper PCA. Set the display housing at it’s
mounting position on the display backing plate. Replace and tighten display housing
mounting screws.
16. Check the operation of the cycle per Section 4.
17. Replace the cover per Procedure 7.1.
18. If you are replacing only lower interconnect cable or heart rate, skip to step 26.
