To begin using the tool:
1.
As a standard practice, drain water from the air
compressor tank and air lines prior to use each day
(reference your compressor operators manual for
detailed instructions).
2.
Install a 1/4” NPT male connector (not included) into
the air inlet port on the tool (see Figure 2).
Note: Use
Teflon® Tape on all threaded connections.
3.
Turn on the air compressor and allow it to build up
pressure.
NOTE: Resin sanding discs with a 7/8” diameter
hole in the center and non-adhesive backs are
recommended for use with the high speed sander.
Always disconnect the tool from
the air source before changing
backing disks or sandpaper. Do
not operate the tool if the backing
disk is not tightened to the sander.
4.
To assemble the backing disks and sandpaper:
a.
Select the correct sized backing disc (3”, 4-1/2” or 5-1/2” - included with tool) and sandpaper for
the application.
NOTE: Backing discs are necessary to support the sandpaper while sanding. For added
strength, use the 4-1/2” backing disk with the 5-1/2” backing disk and the 3” backing disk with
the 4-1/2” backing disk, always using the larger disk towards the front.
b.
Unscrew the sander hub nut from the center of the sander hub.
c.
Assemble the backing disk and the sandpaper.
d.
Push the sander hub nut though the center of the sandpaper and backing disk.
e.
Thread the sander hub nut (clockwise) on to the sander hub.
f.
Insert the holding tool (included with the tool) into the hole on the side of the sanding hub. Insert a
large screwdriver into the slot on the sander hub and securely tighten (clockwise).
Damage sanding discs can fly apart and cause a serious injury. Replace the sanding
disc when it is worn or damaged.
5.
Adjust the air compressor’s regulator or the supply line regulator to 90 PSI.
6.
Connect the tool to the air hose quick coupler.
NOTE: It is recommended that a whip hose with a swivel
(P012-0079SP - not included) be used to prevent twisting, kinking, and excessive wear to the air hose
(see figure 1 for recommended connections).
7.
Adjust the regulator control knob to the desired variable speed.
8.
Squeeze trigger gently. Start the sander off the work. Set it down on the outer portion of the sandpaper with
tool held at a slight angle to the work surface. Move the sander slowly back and forth in wide overlapping
areas. Let the sander do the work. Do not put additional pressure on the sander. This slows down the speed
of the pad, reducing sanding efficiency and puts additional burden on the air tool motor.
9.
When finishing sanding, lift sander off the work before releasing the trigger.
