The suction lift hose should be as short as possible to increase pump efficiency and
reduce priming time. The suction setup should not exceed the discharge setup.
STRAINER BASKET
The strainer basket must be
fully immersed in the water
source to ensure that air is
not introduced into the
pump. Place the strainer
basket at a sufficient depth
to ensure that the pumping
system does not drain enough water to uncover it.
To keep silt or sand from the bottom of a lake, river or ditch from entering the
suction hose, anchor the strainer basket on a solid surface like a group of rocks
or inside a bucket.
PRIMING THE PUMP
NOTICE! Do not run the pump dry. This will cause cavitation in the pump
mechanism and can damage the pump beyond repair. Prime the pump with
water before starting.
