tool USE
During sharpening operations, follow these instructions:
1. Place the chain on the guides (see fig. 6).
2. turn the chain support through 30° and tighten the lock nut (see fig. 7).
The 30° angle increases the
tooth angle for a better quality cut. However, less material must be removed, since increasing the tooth
angle also increases its fragility, leading to greater risk of chain breakage.
3. set the tooth in line with the abrasive wheel using the adjuster screw (see fig. 8).
4. tighten the chain slightly using the knob (see fig. 9).
5. adjust the sharpening depth using the screw provided (see fig. 10).
6. tighten all the teeth of the same type before turning the chain support to the other side with the
same angle (see fig. 11 and 12).
7. the chain support position must only be changed when the tool is off.
8. to avoid damaging the chain teeth, remove as little material as possible and do not work too long
on any one tooth.
The maximum amount that can be removed from each single tooth varies from chain
to chain; this information must be supplied by the chain’s manufacturer (read the instructions supplied by
chain’s manufacturer).
9. sharpen the depth limiters using a flat file for use on steel (see fig. 13).
