Mounting the guard
Fig. B
Mount the guard before using the machine.
Assembly
•
Place the guard (2) on the housing. Be aware that the notch of the guard falls across the
edge of the housing.
•
Place the fixing-ring (7+12) on the guard: the ring-holes have to be on the screw-holes.
•
Mount the guard and the fixing-ring with 4 screws and washers (8).
•
The closed side of the guard must always point in the user's direction.
Check regularly that the screws are still fixed. Ensure the screws are sufficiently
tightened.
Disassembly
•
Remove the flange nut and the grinding disc with lower flange from the spindle.
•
Unscrew the 4 screws (with washers) then remove the fixing-ring.
•
Remove the guard from the machine.
Mounting a grinding disc
Fig. C
Use grinding discs of the correct dimension. Use fibre reinforced grinding discs only. The
grinding disc must not touch the edge of the guard.
Prior to mounting an accessory always unplug the tool.
•
Press the spindle lock (5, Fig.A) and turn the spindle (6) until it engages in the lock. Keep
the spindle lock (5, Fig.A) pressed during this procedure.
•
Remove the flange nut (10) from the spindle using the spanner (11).
•
Position the grinding disc on the flange (9).
•
Place the flange nut back on the spindle and tighten it using the spanner.
•
Release the spindle lock (5, Fig.A) and check that the spindle is unlocked by rotating the
grinding disc.
Mounting grinding discs and roughing discs
Fig. D and E show you how to mount the flange (10) when using thick (4 - 8 mm) and thin (2,5 - 4
mm) discs.

•
Before use, inspect the grinding disc for any damage. Do not use grinding discs which are
cracked, ripped or otherwise damaged.
•
Before use, let the machine run idle for 30 seconds. Immediately switch off the machine in
case of abnormal vibrations or occurrence of another defect. Carefully inspect the
machine and grinding disc before switching the machine on again.
•
Make sure that sparks do not come into contact with highly flammable substances.
•
Make sure that the grinding tool is mounted and fastened correctly before use. Keep your
hands away from the grinding surface.
•
Always wear protective goggles and ear protectors. Personal protective gear such as a
dust mask and gloves should also be worn.
•
Make sure that the ventilation openings remain unblocked during dusty work. If it becomes
necessary to remove dust, first disconnect the electric tool from the mains.
If a guard
is supplied with the tool never use the tool without such a guard.
•
When the electrical mains are in poor condition, voltage drops can occur. This can
influence other equipment (eg. blinking of a lamp). If the mains-impedance Zmax <0.348
Ohm, such disturbances are not expected. Contact your local electricity supply authority
for further information.
Electrical safety
When using electric machines always observe the safety regulations applicable in your country
to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Read the following safety
instructions. Keep these instructions in a safe place!
Always check that the power supply corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate.
Your machine is double insulated in accordance with EN 50144;
therefore no earthwire is required.
When replacing old cables or plugs
Throw away old cables or plugs immediately as soon as new ones have replaced these. It is
dangerous to put the plug of a loose cable into the socket outlet.
Prior to mounting an accessory always unplug the tool.
Mounting the side-handle
The side handle can be used for both left-hand and right-hand control.
•
Fasten the side handle for left-hand operation on the right-hand side of the machine.
•
Fasten the side handle for right-hand operation on the left-hand side of the machine.
