Refer to the metal-clad switchgear instruction
bulletin and drawings produced specifically
for the installed equipment for additional
information and cautions before attempting to
remove the circuit breakers from the metal-clad
switchgear equipment.
1) Removing the Circuit Breaker from the
Connected to the Test/Disconnect Position
2) Removing the Circuit Breaker from the
Test/Disconnect Position out of the Circuit
Breaker Compartment

Prior to removing the circuit breaker from the
circuit breaker compartment, make sure the
circuit breaker is in the open position and all
springs are discharged.

Prior to removing the circuit breaker from the
circuit breaker compartment, make sure that
the control circuits are deenergized.
1) Removing the Circuit Breaker from the
Connected to the Test/Disconnect Position
a. While the breaker is in the connected
position, fully press the “push to trip”
knob (Figure 15, a). At this time the
circuit breaker will be in the open
position.
b. While the “push to trip” knob is pressed
in, slide the racking access window
(Figure 15, b) to the left.
c. Insert the racking handle. Rotate the
handle counterclockwise
(out-direction), thus beginning the
racking out of the circuit breaker
towards test/disconnect position.
d. Continue racking the circuit breaker out
until the indicator flag (Figure 16, a)
displays
“TEST/DISCONNECT”.
Note:
This is the Test Position.
2) Removing the Circuit Breaker from the
Test/Disconnect Position out of the Circuit
Breaker Compartment

Prior to removing the circuit breaker from the
circuit breaker compartment, make sure the
circuit breaker is in the open position and all
springs are discharged.

Prior to removing the circuit breaker from the
circuit breaker compartment, make sure that
the control circuits are deenergized.
a. While stepping on the test position
interlock lever (Figure 1, r), pull the
breaker approximately 2” forward to
test/disconnect position.
b. Lift the secondary disconnect
interlocking device (Figure 1, d) and
pivot secondary disconnect latch to
the right and remove the secondary
disconnect plug from the circuit breaker
and place it in its storage location on
the compartment door.
c. Grasp circuit breaker front cover
handles (Figure 1, b).
d. While holding the handles, depress the
test position interlock (Figure 1, r) and
remove the circuit breaker from the
circuit breaker compartment.
