f. Close the compartment door. The
circuit breaker may now be electrically
closed and tripped by using the
circuit breaker control switch on the
compartment door. The control of
the circuit breaker is arranged so that
the main closing spring will recharge
immediately after each closing
operation.
Note
: This is the Test Position.
!
CAUTION
As soon as the secondary disconnects
engage, the charging motor will charge the
main closing spring if the control circuit is
energized.
3) Inserting the Circuit Breaker to the Connected
Position
!
CAUTION
Prior to inserting the circuit breaker into the
circuit breaker compartment, make sure that
the control circuits are deenergized.
a. Open the compartment door.
b. Verify that the circuit breaker
open/closed indicator displays
“
BREAKER OPEN
” and if not, press the
manual trip operator to open the circuit
breaker. The racking interlock prevents
racking the circuit breaker into or out of
the compartment if the circuit breaker
is in the closed position. If excessive
force is applied to the racking handle
while the circuit breaker is in the closed
position, the racking shaft pin, located
where the racking crank engages, will
shear and the racking operating shaft
will rotate freely. If the pin shears, it is
an indication that the circuit breaker
should be placed in the open position
before further racking is attempted.
c. Press down on the rail latch, located
on the right side of the circuit breaker,
and roll the circuit breaker towards the
rear of the compartment until it stops,
this should only require a few pounds
of force. This will enable the racking
nut on the circuit breaker to engage
the racking screw in the compartment.
Engage the racking handle onto the
racking operating shaft and push
moderately towards the rear of the cell.
Turn the racking handle clockwise and
the circuit breaker will slowly travel
toward the rear of the compartment.
Continue racking until the racking crank
turns freely and the circuit breaker
is in the fully connected position.
When the circuit breaker is in the fully
connected position, the front steel
barrier should be 1/4 inch or less from
the compartment frame angles.
d. Once the circuit breaker has reached
the connected position, remove the
racking handle, verify that the manual
trip operator has returned to its normal
position, close the compartment door,
and operate the circuit breaker as
required.
Note:
This is the Connected Position.
