GENERAL STEP-BY-STEP GUILDLINES FOR
INSTALLING A PORTER WALL–MOUNTED BACKSTOP
DETAIL “G”
MODEL NO. 219 CABLE TIE-OFF INSTRUCTIONS TO SPREADER
1. Locate cable stop as detailed on manual winch operation units to prevent unit from
folding to a complete 90° fold. The weight of the backstop must not be in balance in the
folded position. Failure to install the cable stop may cause the unit to free-fall in the
“down” cycle should the cable be allowed to become slack. On electric operation, set
the up limit so the backstop is never more than 80° off the horizontal in the “up” posi-
tion, and tension remains on the cable.
2. Route the cable thru hole in pipe (location indicated on installation drawing).
3. Loop cable around pipe twice, once on each side of hole.
4. Secure two widths of cable as shown with four 1/4” cable clamps provided.
5. Tape what will be cut end of the loose cable before trimming off excess.
