Introduction
T he FW- 1 0 0 TA is a si ngle-chip PCI B us 100 BASE-TX Fast Et hern et
Adapter designed for IB M PC compati bles wit h a PC I bus sl ot.The Fast
Ethernet adapter complies with IEEE 802.3 10Base-T/ 802.3u 100Base-TX
standards and PCI Rev. 2.1, 2.2 specifications.The adapter is equipped with
Aut o-Negotiation function, and can aut omat icall y det ect the appropriate
communication rate (10Mbps/100Mbps) and duplex mode (half/full-duplex)
whenever it is connected to a hub with Auto-Negotiation support.
The FW-100TA supports flow control in full duplex (IEEE802.3x), a feature
unavailable in traditional ordinary NICs.
When combi ned wi th a swit chi ng hub wit h IEEE802.3x Flow C ontrol
s upport , the FW- 1 0 0 TA performs flow cont rol in full duplex to prevent
packet losses.
As a PCI bus adapter, the FW-100TA is jumper less. All resources including
I/O base addresses and IRQ are automatically assigned at system startup.
