ESCRIPTION

 

Roaming 

Roaming  allows  a  cellular  telephone  users  to  make  telephone 
calls  and  send  and  receive  data,  in  addition  to  other  services, 
even  if  the  user  is  found  outside  of  their  area  of  network 
coverage as defined in their user contract, by using the network 
that  located.  Use  of  the  telephone  outside  of  the  country 
depends  on  the  network  operator‟s  number  of  roaming 
contracts and on the characteristics of the telephone. 

SAR 

Indicates  the  amount  of  frequency  energy  absorbed  by  human 
tissue through the transmission of radio waves. The admissible 
level differs by country. 

SIM card 

This  removable  card  is  a  chip  located  inside  a  GSM  telephone 
that contains information such as the user‟s telephone number, 
the  list  of  telephone  numbers  and  other  information  related  to 
the owner of the telephone. 

SIP 

The real-time communication protocol for VoIP. 

SMS 

(Short Message Service) This text messaging service is used in 
the majority of mobile telephone systems. 

USB 

A  device  that  allows  the  telephone  to  interface  with  a  PC 
through a PC-tool. 

Voicemail 

Calls are transferred to Voicemail if the user cannot be reached 
or  if  the  telephone  is  turned  off.  The  telephone  informs  the 
users if they have received a message. 

VoIP 

VoIP  is  a  group  of  technologies  that  compressed  the  voice, 
enters it into “packages” and then transmits it via internet. 

WAP 

The  Wireless  Application  Protocol  is  a  protocol  that  helps  to 
create internet applications that can be used by special cellular 
telephones. 

WLAN 

A network that allows various users located in the same building 
with  intranet  access  to  connect  with  each  other.  Normally 
operates  below  the  802.11  Norm.  The  sog.Hub  hardware 
component  operates  like  a  common  connection  interface, 
making  it  possible  to  transmit  data  located  inside  the  data 
processing network to others. 

802.11 

Standard  for  mobile  telephone  communication  that  uses  the 
frequency  spectrum  of  2.4GHz  and  allows  for  high-speed 
transmission up to 54Mbps.
