AIRPLANE DESCRIPTION
operation both injectors per cylinder are active. If a failure is detected in any
injectors, the injection period of the other one on that cylinder is adjusted
for compensation. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) operates all fuel injectors.
Engine Fuel Ignition
The ignition unit operates with four double ignition coils. If the LANE switch-
es are both ON, the system is in the “auto” position: the active LANE con-
trols all four double ignition coils which are connected to the eight spark
plugs. In normal Dual LANE Mode (auto mode), both spark plugs ignite each
cylinder at the same time. In single LANE Mode, only one spark plug ignites
per cylinder. The ignition unit does not require an external power supply.
Engine Exhaust
The exhaust system consists of four exhaust headers, a muffler and dual
tailpipes. All of it’s components are made of titanium, making it very light
weight. The two tailpipes are directed downwards at a 45 degrees angle
relative to the aircraft’s roll axis, thus decreasing the possibility of any CO
finding to enter into the cabin.
7.6.3 ENGINE OPERATING CONTROLS
Engine controls are easily accessible to both pilots on the center console.
They consist of a single-lever throttle control and propeller control lever.
Throttle Lever and Propeller Control
A throttle control lever is located in the central console and controls engine
power. The lever acts upon a cable which control the throttle valve of the
engine. The engine is not equipped with a engine hot air device because
the engine air inlet position inside the engine cowling grants a sufficiently
warm air temperature in any condition.
The constant-speed system consists of a cable that controls a hydraulic gov-
ernor. The control is operated by a lever positioned in the throttle quadrant.
