Troubleshooting
Inco rr ect o p e r ations a r e often mistaken fo r t r ouble and malfunctions. If you think that the r e is
something w r ong with this com p onent, check the p oints below. Sometimes the t r ouble may lie in
anothe r com p onent. Investigate the othe r com p onents and elect r ical a pp liances being used. If the
t r ouble cannot be r ectified even afte r exe r cising the checks listed below, ask you r nea r est Pionee r
autho r ized se r vice cente r o r you r deale r to ca rr y out r e p ai r wo r k.
• If the unit does not o p e r ate no r mally due to exte r nal effects such as static elect r icity
disconnect the p owe r p lug f r om the outlet and inse r t again to r etu r n to no r mal o p e r ating
conditions.
Problem Remedy
The p owe r does not tu r n on. • Disconnect the p owe r p lug f r om the outlet, and inse r t again.
• Make su r e the r e a r e no loose st r ands of s p eake r wi r e touching the r ea r
p anel. This could cause the r eceive r to shut off automatically.
• If you’ r e t r ying to switch on using the r emote cont r ol, make su r e the
f r ont p anel POWER button is switched on fi r st.
• If the p owe r shuts off automatically, take the unit to you r nea r est
Pionee r autho r ized se r vice cente r o r you r deale r fo r se r vicing.
No sound is out p ut when a
function is selected.
• Make su r e the com p onent is connected co rr ectly ( r efe r to
Connecting
up on p age 8).
• P r ess MUTE on the r emote cont r ol to tu r n muting off.

• Connect the antenna ( p age 9) and adjust the p osition fo r best r ece p tion.
• Route any loose cables away f r om the antenna te r minals and wi r es.
• Fully extend the FM wi r e antenna, p osition fo r best r ece p tion, and
secu r e to a wall (o r connect an outdoo r FM antenna).
• Connect an additional inte r nal o r exte r nal AM antenna ( p age 9).
• Tu r n off equi p ment causing inte r fe r ence o r move it away f r om the
r eceive r (o r move antennas fa r the r away f r om equi p ment causing noise).
B r oadcast stations cannot be
selected automatically.
• Connect an outdoo r antenna ( r efe r to p age 9).

• Move the cassette deck fu r the r f r om you r r eceive r , until the noise

• Re p lace the batte r y ( r efe r to p age 7).
• O p e r ate within 7 m (23 ft.), 30° of the r emote senso r on the f r ont p anel
( r efe r to p age 13).
• Remove the obstacle o r o p e r ate f r om anothe r p osition.
• Avoid ex p osing the r emote senso r on the f r ont p anel to di r ect light.
