Serial console
Connect a PC or terminal directly to the serial console to access the boot-time control and
FL
SWITCH EP74… interfaces. The serial console port provides access to the console in-
terface. The serial console port is of a industry standard format of RS-232 using an RJ45
connector. The RS-232 default setup parameters are 115200 bps, 8, N.
For connection to existing older laptop computers, a RJ45 to D-SUB9 cable is provided. For
newer laptops, the user may purchase an RJ45 to USB cable.
The serial console is intended to be used only as a temporary connection during initial con-
figuration or troubleshooting.

Ethernet ports and communication cabling
The FL
SWITCH EP74… comes with standard Ethernet ports. According to the link type,
the switch uses CAT 3, 4, 5, and 5e UTP cables to connect to any other network devices
(computers, servers, switches, routers, or hubs).
