DivX Compatibility
DivX® is a format for digital video. The DivX® codec is based on the MPEG-4 compression standard, which is so
advanced that it can reduce an MPEG-2 video (the same format used for DVD) to 10% of its original size.
Philips Multimedia Hard Disk is fully compatible with DivX® format and can play any movie encoded with this
compression format no matter which version of the encoder used: 3.11, 4.x, 5.x.
If you want to use external text subtitles:
Make sure that you have stored your subtitles in the same folder as the corresponding movie.
(E.g. “movie.avi” and “movie.srt” in the folder)
Make sure that the subtitle file has the same name (not the same extension) as the movie file.

DivX® VOD compatibility
Your Philips Multimedia Hard Disk device supports the new DivX® Video-On-Demand (VOD) feature. With this
feature, you have the possibility to purchase or rent DivX VOD movies (downloaded from the internet), and
playback on your Philips Multimedia Hard Disk DivX Certified device.
Visit www.divx.com/vod for information about how DivX VOD works.
Before you can enjoy DivX® VOD, your Multimedia Hard Disk must be activated via the DivX Player application.
An 8-character DivX VOD registration code ( “Activation ID”) is needed for this, which can be retrieved from the
Philips Multimedia Hard Disk. Select the 'DivX® VOD' option from the 'Settings' menu and press OK to see the
registration code of your device.
DivX® video content that has been downloaded using this Activation ID can now be played ONLY on your Philips
Multimedia Hard Disk!
