8 Maintenance
8.1
Cleaning sample sensors
Switch the power off and remove the power cable. Then open the instrument by removing the top
cover.
Lift off the top cover
Inspect the four sensor lenses inside the funnel
If the sensor lenses need to be cleaned, first use gentle compressed air jet (such as “canned air” used
for PC servicing). If this is inadequate, use a damp soft cloth to remove residue build up. Snap the
top cover back on before plugging in the power cable.
8.2
Cleaning the RF cell
Prior to turning the power off, select [Menu]-[General settings]-[Maintenance]-[Clean]-[Open
Funnel]. Do not press back. Switch the power off and remove the power cable. This allows the
grain dump door to open for better access to the RF cell.
Open the instrument:
Lift off the top cover
Push back the black inner funnel
Push back the inner funnel to access the metal RF cell inside the instrument. If the cell needs to be
cleaned, first use gentle compressed air jet (such as “canned air” used for PC servicing). If this is
inadequate, use a damp soft cloth to remove residue build up.
The plastic door on the bottom of the RF cell may also be accessed for cleaning by placing the
instrument on its back and removing the catch drawer. The plastic door may be moved and
cleaned with a damp soft cloth.
Reassemble and make sure to snap the top cover back on before plugging in the power cable.
