Place the base on the mounting surface so the screw heads appear through the appropriate holes, then turn the
base counterclockwise to position it exactly where you want it and fasten the screws so the base stays in place.

Connect a 9V battery to the alarm and insert it into its compartment, making sure the red lever is pressed down.

Attach the smoke alarm to the base by turning it clockwise.
5. Testing and Maintenance
•
Test the unit once a week to make sure it is still functioning.
•
Press and hold the test button until the alarm sounds. If it does not sound, make sure the battery is connected
properly and try again. If it still does not sound, replace the battery with a new one. If that does not work, take the
unit to your local dealer.
•
In standby, the test button flashes once every 30 seconds. While the alarm is sounding, it flashes once a second.
•
If the alarm starts producing short sounds every 30 seconds, the battery needs to be replaced.
•
Normally, a little smoke will not trigger the alarm. If it should start sounding because of cigarette smoke or cooking
steam, blow or wave some clean air towards the alarm to stop it.
•
Never use water, cleaners or solvents to clean the
SSD01
since they may damage the unit.
•
Clean the smoke alarm once a month with a soft cloth, and blow at it to prevent dust from blocking air vents.
Alternatively, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.
